Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is a type of rehab for various pelvic floor dysfunctions in both men and women. Throughout the life span, all individuals can experience a range of symptoms caused from overuse or underuse of their pelvic floor muscles. Symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction range from bowel and bladder issues (incontinence or constipation) to pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction and back/SIJ pain. Research supports that pelvic floor physical therapy intervention is successful in helping reduce symptoms of endometriosis, IC/PBS and oncology recovery/survivorship. Postpartum women especially can benefit from pelvic floor PT to avoid long term complications from difficult deliveries, or to improve general strength/function post-baby. Men also experience pelvic floor dysfunction in the form of penile/testicular pain, urinary or fecal urgency or incontinence and sexual dysfunction. Although common, that doesn’t mean any of these symptoms are normal. Quality of life can improve significantly with treatment from a specially trained provider, like Dr. Pabin!
